Base Plus fully cassetted awning extended over a patio

Base Plus Awning

The Base Plus is the awning we recommend most often. It's a fully cassetted folding arm awning, made in the UK, that tucks completely away into a neat case when it's closed — and opens out to give you proper shade over a patio, terrace or shopfront. We measure and fit across Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and the rest of Teesside.

A tidy awning that looks after itself

Most of the time an awning is closed, so how it looks and how well it's protected matters as much as the shade it gives. The Base Plus is fully cassetted: when you wind it in, the folding arms and the fabric disappear into a slim case. That keeps the fabric clean, dry and out of the sun, so it stays looking good for longer — and you're left with a neat line on the wall rather than exposed arms and fabric.

Made in the UK, built for British weather

The Base Plus is made in the UK by Base Awnings & Blinds, the specialist awning company we use as our supplier. It's designed for British conditions, with powder-coated frames that resist chipping, fading and rust, and acrylic fabrics that are UV-stable and water-resistant.

Quick, neat fitting

It hangs from just two brackets, one at each end, with no centre bracket or continuous back bar. That makes fitting quicker and suits walls where space is tight. It can be fixed to the face of the wall or up under the eaves, and the pitch can be adjusted on site so the shade falls exactly where you want it.

Choosing your size

The awning comes in four projections, from 1.6m to 3.1m. As a rough guide, a bigger projection shades more of the patio but needs a slightly wider wall. We'll measure up and suggest the size that shades the area you actually use.

Manual or Somfy motorised

You can wind it out by hand, or have it fitted with a Somfy motor. With a motor you can use a remote or wall switch, add a wind sensor so it comes in by itself if the weather turns, and even link it to the Somfy TaHoma app with your other motorised blinds. See Somfy motorisation.

Extras for evenings

LED lights in the arms and an infrared patio heater on the wall turn your patio into somewhere you'll use well after sunset.

Smaller space?

If your wall is narrower or you don't need as much reach, have a look at the Base Lite, its smaller sister. Or book a free site visit and we'll help you choose.

Styles & options

Why we like the Base Plus

  • Fully cassetted

When it's closed, the arms and fabric fold away into a case that keeps them clean, dry and out of the sun, so the awning lasts longer and looks tidy on the wall.

  • Just two brackets

It hangs from one bracket at each end, with no centre bracket or back bar, so fitting is quicker and neater on most walls.

  • Adjustable pitch

We can fine-tune the angle on site, so the shade falls where you sit and rain runs off properly.

  • Wall or ceiling fixing

It can be face-fixed to the wall or top-fixed under eaves or a soffit.

  • Hundreds of fabrics

UV-stable, water-resistant acrylic fabrics by Dickson and other leading brands, in plains and stripes.

  • Three frame colours

Pure White, Textured Anthracite or Jet Black, all powder-coated with matching end caps and brackets.
