Blinds for sloping glass
A standard blind hangs down under its own weight, which doesn't work on a sloping roof window — it would sag away from the glass. Roof and skylight blinds are held in side channels or tensioned top and bottom, so they stay flat against the glass at any angle.
Common uses
- Loft bedrooms: blackout roof blinds make it easier to sleep on light summer mornings, so this is usually what we'd suggest for a loft bedroom.
- Loft offices: light-filtering fabrics reduce glare while still letting daylight in.
- Flat rooflights: in kitchen extensions, blinds help manage glare over dining areas.
Things to consider
- Window type: roof windows vary, and the blind system depends on the window. If you're not sure what you have, don't worry — we'll check it for you.
- Reach: high windows may need a pole or a motorised blind, so you can open and close them without a ladder.
- Light gaps: side channels help close off the edges, which matters most if you want blackout.
Styles for roof windows
Roof window blinds are available in several styles, including roller, pleated and blackout options, with manual, pole-operated or motorised control. Because the right system depends on the make and size of the roof window, we check the window details at your appointment and confirm which blinds suit it before you decide.
Measuring and fitting
We measure and fit roof blinds ourselves, so you don't need to work out sizes or fixings — book a free home appointment.
