Wooden blinds on a living-room window

Repairs and Spares

A broken chain or a blind that won't stay up doesn't always mean you need a new one. Tell us what's wrong and we'll give you an honest view on whether a repair, a replacement part or a new blind makes more sense. Our team measures and fits across Stockton, Middlesbrough and Teesside, from our Stockton-on-Tees showroom.

Repair or replace?

If a blind is in good condition and the problem is a worn or broken part, a repair is often the sensible choice. If the fabric has faded, the slats are damaged or the mechanism is generally tired, a new blind will usually look and work better for longer. Either way, we'll give you an honest view so you can decide.

What helps us most

  • The type of blind (roller, Roman, vertical, venetian, wooden, pleated, motorised or shutter). If you're not sure, a photo will tell us.
  • A short description of what's wrong.
  • A photo of the whole blind and a close-up of the control end.
  • Any label or brand name on the headrail (the bar at the top that holds the blind).

Safety when repairing

If an older blind has looped cords, we'll recommend fitting a suitable safety device or replacing the blind, particularly if there are children in the house. See Safety First for more.

Questions & answers

Your questions about repairs and spares

Can you repair a blind that you didn't supply?

Often, yes. It depends on the product and whether parts are still available. Send us a photo or describe the fault, and we'll let you know what we can do.

Is it worth repairing an old blind?

Sometimes a small part is all it takes to bring a good blind back to life. If the fabric has faded or the mechanism is worn out, though, a new made-to-measure blind is usually better value. We'll always tell you honestly which we think makes sense.

What should I tell you about the fault?

It helps to know what type of blind it is, what's wrong and roughly how old it is. If you can, send a photo of the control end and any label on the headrail (the bar along the top). Don't worry if you can't find everything — we'll work it out together.

Do you fix motorised blinds?

We can help with remotes, batteries, programming and some motor faults. If you know which system you have, let us know, as it helps us advise you more quickly.
