Blinds for productive workplaces
Glare on screens, rooms that overheat in summer and meeting rooms with no privacy all affect how people work. The right blinds help with each of these — and a consistent look across your windows makes a building feel well kept to staff and visitors alike.
Common choices
- Vertical blinds for large windows, where they're easy to adjust across a wide span of glass.
- Roller blinds in screen, dim-out or blackout fabrics, depending on how much light each room needs.
- Venetian blinds for precise control, as you can tilt the slats to direct light where you want it.
Choosing blinds for your business
The right blind depends on the size of the window and which way it faces, how the room is used and the impression you want to give. A professional office might suit a sleek dark vertical or roller blind; a salon or café might choose warm wooden Venetians; a nursery or childminder needs bright, child-safe blinds. Meeting and training rooms often need dim-out or blackout fabrics so presentations are easy to see. Flame-retardant fabrics are available in many ranges too — if you have a specification you need to meet, just tell us and we'll guide you to suitable fabrics.
Office blinds for glare and heat
Screen glare is the most common reason businesses call us. Roller blinds in a screen fabric are often the best answer for desks near windows: they cut glare and some of the heat while keeping a view out, so the office still feels light. On south and west-facing windows, a solar-reflective fabric can help rooms stay more comfortable in summer. Our heat and glare control page explains how the different fabrics compare.
Meeting rooms, glass partitions and large windows
Meeting rooms often need two things at once: privacy and a darker room for presentations. A dim-out or blackout roller blind does both. For wide or high windows, or rooms where blinds are opened and closed several times a day, motorised blinds with Somfy controls make life easier. They can be run from a wall switch, a remote or a timer, so a whole run of windows moves together.
Durability and easy cleaning
Office blinds are used every day, sometimes by people who aren't too gentle with them. We'd usually suggest sturdy mechanisms and fabrics that can be wiped or vacuumed, and we can keep the same fabric and colour across floors so replacements are easy to match later. Where a single part fails, it can often be repaired rather than replaced — see our repairs and spares page.
