What are Perfect Fit® shutters?
Perfect Fit® shutters are a lighter, no-drill take on the plantation shutter. Each one is a single panel of tilting louvres that clips into the frame of a uPVC window or door, using the same push-in brackets as our Perfect Fit® blinds. Because the shutter is fixed to the opening part of the window, it moves with it, so you can still open the window fully and tilt-and-turn windows work as normal.
How they differ from traditional shutters
Our full height and tier-on-tier shutters sit on a frame in the window recess and open on hinges, like small doors. Perfect Fit® shutters don't need a frame, and there are no hinged panels to swing into the room. They suit:
- windows where there isn't room for hinged panels to open, such as behind a sink or above a radiator;
- tilt-and-turn windows and inward-opening doors;
- rented homes and new builds where you'd rather not drill;
- uPVC windows where you'd like the shutter look for less than a fully framed shutter.
A traditional shutter is still the better choice if you'd like a hardwood finish, wider louvres, a shaped or arched panel, or a frame that dresses the whole recess. We'll bring samples of both so you can compare them at your own windows.
Louvres, finishes and control
The louvres are 63mm wide and made from waterproof vinyl, so they're happy in bathrooms and kitchens and easy to wipe clean. You tilt them with a slim rod, anywhere from fully open to fully closed, and there are no cords or chains to worry about. We can add a cut-out so your window handle still turns, and taller panes may have a mid-rail for extra strength. Colours are a small, practical range of whites and soft greys, and we'll bring them with us so you can see them in your own light.
Will they fit my windows?
Perfect Fit® shutters need uPVC windows or doors with a rubber glazing bead (the strip around the glass) on all four sides. They aren't suitable for timber sash windows, metal frames, roof windows or glass that's sealed with silicone only, and some sliding patio doors and bi-folds don't leave enough clearance. You don't need to work any of this out yourself: we check every window when we measure and tell you which style will work.
Measuring and fitting
Each shutter is made to the size of the individual pane, so we measure every one at a free home appointment. Fitting is quick and tidy, with no drilling and no dust, and the shutters can be unclipped if you need to clean the glass. If you're weighing up shutters against blinds, our shutters buying guide is a good place to start.
