How motorised curtains work
A motor in the track moves the curtain carriers (the small runners the curtain hangs from), opening and closing your curtains smoothly. We use Somfy motors, so you can control them by remote, wall switch or timer, or from your phone with an app.
Things to consider
- Power: most tracks need a power supply near the window. If you're not sure what you have, don't worry — we'll check this when we visit.
- Heading: wave headings are a popular match for motorised tracks, and we can show you how they look.
- Smart home: the Somfy TaHoma app lets you control your curtains from your phone, and works with voice control through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

Somfy curtain motors
We use Somfy motors and controls for our motorised curtains. As well as a remote or wall switch, you can set timers, add a sun sensor, or use the Somfy TaHoma app and voice control with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. You'll find more on our Somfy motorisation page, and we'll happily talk you through the options at your appointment.
