Blinds and shutters for Great Ayton homes

Great Ayton is a village with a lot of character, sitting below the Cleveland Hills, and many of its homes are older stone cottages and houses alongside more recent family homes. Older properties often have smaller, deeper windows and thick walls, and they can feel dark if a blind takes up too much of the glass. In those rooms we'd usually suggest something that stacks neatly at the top, such as a Roman blind or a pleated blind, so you keep as much daylight as possible.

Where windows look out over the hills or fields, people are often keen not to block the view at all during the day. A blind fitted outside the recess can be raised fully clear of the glass, and light-filtering fabrics give some privacy in the evening without making the room feel shut in.

Popular choices in Great Ayton

• Cottage windows: Romans in natural or textured fabrics, lined for extra warmth in winter.
• Bedrooms: blackout linings, which help on light summer mornings.
• Garden rooms: pleated or conservatory blinds to soften the sun.
• Newer homes: Perfect Fit® or roller blinds for a clean, simple look.
